I was scheduled to be induced the next because my doctor knew he was already a huge baby! Eli had amind of his own though...he wanted to come earlier! I started having contractions on Sunday, August 2nd, at about 4:30pm. I had kind of felt different all day that day, but wasn't sure what was going on. We had plans to go to dinner at Babe's at 5:00 with James' family for his sister's bday. before leaving for Babe's I told James that I thought just he, Owen, and my mom should go that I was starting to have contractions and they were like 5 minuted apart. James (being such a man) said "Brittany you are fine...you have to eat...so you might as well go!" I hesitantly agreed to go, thinking maybe the contractions would stop because I had been having Braxton Hicks off and on for several days already. We left for Babe's, and the bumby ride down Garland Rd. the contractions became a little stronger (not hurting though) and little closer together (4-5 min apart) We got to Babe's ordered our food and the contractions again became stronger and closer together. I finally looked at James and said "I think I need to go call the doctor, my contractions are 2-5 minutes apart". I called the doc and he said it was time I get to the hospital, especially considering this was my second baby! We rushed home, grabbed our half packed bags (we thought we would have time to finish packing that night), met my brother in law so that Owen could go to my sisters' and out the door we went!

We arrived at the hospital at about 7:00pm. We got checked in, the nurse checked me and I was only at a 3. The contractions were still happening every 2-5 minutes, but were not consistent. She said they would monitor me for 30 minutes and decide whether or not to send me home. Well, they decided not to because the next time she checked me I was at a 4 and the contractions were really beginning to become painful! The doctor (not my doctor :( the doctor on call) came in talked with us about the delivery and discussed the option of a c-section because Eli was so big. He told us all this scary stuff that can happen when delivering a large baby. It really made me nervous because my dr had never discussed this with us...he was confident I could deliver a big baby since Owen was also big! Anyways, he said we would try to deliver Eli but could possibly end up in a c-section. So, we just sat around for a while. The nurse came in to check me at about 10:00pm and I was between a 5 and 6 and was in a lot of pain. She ordered my epidural. Got my epidural at 10:30, and when they finished the nurse suggested that James and I get some sleep. James got his cot all set up to get some rest and just as he laid down at about 11:00pm I turned to him and told him that I was not feeling right. I told him that I was feeling A LOT of pressure and I shouldn't feel anything...after all I had just gotten the epidural! Of course James responded with "Oh Brittany...you're fine...go to sleep!" (are you seeing a pattern here??) I decided to call the nurse disregarding James need for sleep. She came in, checked me and I was at a 10! She couldn't believe it! She called the doctor...I pushed 4 times and Eli made his debut! It all happened so fast, I couldn't believe he was already here! I thought I would be in labor all night and that I would have him early the next morning! Nope, he was bound and determined to arrive on the 2nd of August!!
Big brother, Owen came first thing the next morning to meet his Bubba! He ran in the room, jumped up on the bed and kissed Eli! He kep saying "my bubba, Eli"! It was the sweetest thing in the whole world! He was genuinly excited to meet his baby brother!
Since being home, things have been great! My mom is staying with us, helping out, and boy have I needed it! Life is MUCH more busy with 2! Eli is doing great...he is only waking up 2 times at night and goes right back to sleep! I am really not losing much sleep so am feeling good as well! I better go...duty calls...but hopefully can post more pics from the hospital and our first week home tomorrow! By the way...did I mention how much I love my life?? I am truly blessed with all my boys!

-Owen amazes us each and every day with the things he is learning! His vocabulary has just shot through the roof! We were worried for a while that he would never say more than "Momma, Dada, juice and no"!
-James and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary! So much has changed in the past 5 years! It amazes me to think of people we used to be compared to who we are now.
